MORNING SESSION: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS (9am-12pm)
This is an in-depth session for HVAC technicians of any skill level. This course covers the fundamentals of the refrigeration cycle and the functionality and maintenance of the four major components of an A/C system. Next, we will review the preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting techniques needed for a typical multifamily property.
Learning Outcomes:
● Understand the fundamentals of the A/C Refrigeration cycle.
● Identify the basic electrical and mechanical components of an A/C System.
● Understand the schematic designs of components (control and operating circuits).
● Identify and complete preventive maintenance needs.
● Troubleshoot common problems with A/C systems.
Recommended Prerequisites (Not Required):
● Safety 101: PPE
● Electrical 101: Meters
● HVAC 101: Basics
Students are encouraged to bring basic tools and meters with them to class.
Session cost is: $40 for members of SLAA for the AM session.
AFTERNOON SESSION: HVAC REFRIGERANTS (1pm-4pm)
This course covers the proper flow of both refrigerants and air through an HVAC system. First, we will review the different states of refrigerant through the refrigeration cycle. Next, we will walk you through the impact of having proper airflow and the issues that result from improper airflow. Lastly, we will discuss preventive maintenance considerations to help lower your utility costs. Proper preventive maintenance will reduce wear and tear on your equipment, so you get the most from your investment. R-410A and other refrigerants, R-410A phase down, and other Related topics, will also be covered.
Learning Outcomes:
● Identify safety considerations and EPA regulations.
● Understand the role of refrigerants and oils.
● Learn the principles of R-410A and phasedown details.
● Recognize line set repair/replacement.

● EPA section 608 Certification

We understand that plans can change; however, due to the commitments we must make with vendors and venues, the following cancellation and no-show policies apply to all of our events:
- Cancellation After Deadline:
The deadline to register for events is 10 days prior to the event date, unless otherwise noted. Cancellations made after the registration deadline will not be eligible for a refund. Once the deadline has passed, we are unable to accommodate refunds or event credits, as event logistics will have already been finalized. - No-Show Policy:
If a registered participant does not attend the event ("no-show"), they will still be responsible for the full cost of the event. No-shows will be invoiced for the full amount of their registration, as their space has been reserved and event expenses incurred. - Events Including Meals:
For events where meals are provided, registrants who cancel after the deadline or do not attend will still be charged the full ticket price, including the cost of the meal. This ensures that costs associated with pre-ordered meals are covered. - Substitutions:
If you are unable to attend an event, you may send someone in your place. Please notify us of any substitutions prior to the event date.
