New this year, SLAA is pleased to offer a two-hour training session for our members on the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Guest Speaker, Dana Duckworth, is a nationally recognized public speaker, facilitator, and DEI advocate specializing in creating inclusive spaces. With a background spanning over 14 years in multifamily housing, in roles from property manager to supplier partner, Dana's transparency and commitment to cultivating spaces of belonging have been integral to her success.

Recognized as a certified employee resource group leader and the 2023 National Apartment Association DEI Champion of the Year, Dana has consistently demonstrated her expertise in driving diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her DEI certification from the University of South Florida and a B.S. in Sociology from HBCU Norfolk State University equips her with a deep understanding of social dynamics and inclusive community-building.

Her multifamily housing background and experience at tech company Zumper further enhance her skill set, especially in fostering diverse and inclusive workplaces. Her time at Zumper as a DEI Champion solidified her passion for promoting equitable environments where all voices are heard and valued.

As a sought-after speaker and facilitator, Dana creates safe environments for open dialogue, empowering individuals from all backgrounds to share their perspectives and feel valued. Her authentic approach resonates with audiences, making her a catalyst for positive change in various contexts. Whether on stage or through her podcast, Dana remains dedicated to driving diversity, equity, and inclusion, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those she touches.

This interactive session will be focused on creating a basic understanding of DEI and unconscious bias.  Participants will learn about common forms of unconscious bias, discover how to move these biases from unconscious to conscious, and learn the impact of unchecked bias in the workplace.  Participants will grow in their understanding of the responsibilities they have in creating inclusive spaces.

  1. Deadline to register for events is 10 days prior, unless otherwise noted.  After the deadline date, refunds are not available for any event.
  2. Cancellations must be received by the deadline date, otherwise payment will be expected.
  3. No-shows the day of the seminar will be expected to pay the total fee.
