Professional Development

SLAA offers designate courses throughout the year. Classes are usually held in the SLAA Office, on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., for approximately 10 weeks.

  • The Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) course if offered twice per year (spring and fall), limited to 12 students, but no less than 6 students are required for the class to take place. Course cost is $400.00 for SLAA Members and $650.00 for non-members. (Cost is subject to change)
  • The Certified Apartment Property Supervisor (CAPS) course is offered once per year, limited to 12 students, but no less than five students are required for the class to take place. Course cost is $600.00 for SLAA Members and $900.00 for non-members (Cost is subject to change)
  • The National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP) course is offered in November of each year, usually 3 consecutive Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Course cost is $300.00 for SLAA Members and $600.00 for non-members. (Cost is subject to change)
  • To obtain a CAS (Certified Apartment Supplier Designation) you must have worked in the apartment industry for at least 12 months; successfully complete three required courses (which total 20.5 hours) and one elective course. SLAA offers this course in conjunction with the CAM course.
